Although better known as a realist still life painter, from time to time I enjoy painting abstracts, primarily based on the many figure drawings I produce from the live model.
The work you can view on this website is developed from my observations of the figure and particularly the body in action but I have also recently begun to work from the landscape. The peat moss landscape close to my home has begun to be reclaimed as a nature reserve and species which were original to the area reintroduced. This area, along with the dramatic coast of Maine visited during summer months, provide me with inspiration for my landscape work.
I studied at Burnley College of Art and Ripon College of Education before teaching and starting my artistic practice and am an elected member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.
